Information

School starts at 8.50am and ends at 3.10pm. The children have 13 weeks holiday a year, when parents are expected to take their family holidays.

Nursery children come to school daily for one session. The morning session starts at 9.00am and finishes at 11.30am. The afternoon session starts at 12.45pm and finishes at 3.15pm. The children always try their best to come to school. Every day counts!

The total number of registered pupils of compulsory school age on roll for at least one session on 26th May 2007 was 215. The percentage of half day sessions missed through unauthorised absence was 0%. The percentage of half day sessions missd through authorised absence was 3.6%. We ask parents to phone us if their child is absent for any reason.
School Dinners
Delicious meals can be bought from the canteen. Children can bring their own packed lunches but we like them to be healthy and wholesome - no fizzy drinks or sweets please!
Milk can be bought as a healthy drink. Free fresh fruit is provided every day.
Parent Partnership
Our parent partnership is built on trust and respect. We operate an 'open door' policy. Parents are welcome to come in to chat about their children informally.

Each child, parents and teacher come together three times a year for a Home/School Consultation. Pupils love celebrating their achievements with both their parents and teacher. A written report is shared at the end of the academic year.

Termly sharing assemblies are a special time to see the children perform and share their achievements and work with their families and friends.

We have a strong tem of parents coming into the school, all who are police checked, to read withthe children or work with the teachers in the classrooms.

PTFA - every parent has talent and we can use it. We welcome new parents and friends who have innovative ideas to raise money for the children to have special things like the playground train, car and ship, the nursery environmental garden.
School Uniform
We like all our children to feel they belong to this great school so we like all of them to wear school uniform from the day they join us. It's practical, comfortable and saves on arguments in the mornings! You can buy all the essentials through the School Office.

Green school sweatshirt/cardigan, fleece; white shirt/polo top; grey trousers/shorts/skirt/pinafore dress; green and white dresses are worn in the summer.
Hair accessories should eb green, black or white. Only stud earrings are allowed and need to be removed for PE.

PE
The children are encouraged to change for PE. The children require a T shirt, pair of shorts and plimsolls in a suitable bag.

Hats
Sun hats may be worn to protect the children from the sun during playtime and lunchtime periods. These may be purchased in school.

Shoes
It is important that children wear sensible shoes to school. They should be a colour which compliments the school uniform i.e. black. Sandals can be worn in the summer but must have closed toes. Black trainers can only be worn in an emergency.
When should my child start school?
The law says that your child must start school the term after he/she reaches 5 years of age. In Sutton many children are admitted earlier than this.

If your child's date of birth falls between 1 September 2003 and 31 August 2004 (inclusive) he/she should start school in September 2008.

When should I apply?
Closing dates for all applications is Friday 7th December 2007.

Preferences
For Cheam Park Farm Infants' School, if there are more applications than there are places available, offers are made in the following priority order:
1. Looked after children (supporting evidence from a Social Worker will be required).
2. Where there are supported medical reasons or exceptional social reasons why a child should attend the school.
3. Where applicants have an older brother or sister already in the school at the time of admission. (Brother or sister refers to another child who is part of the same family unit, living at the same family address).
4. Other first preference applicants in order of proximity to the school.

Refugee and Asylum Seeking children may be included under (2) above depending on individual circumstances. You should indicate in your application if you wish to be considered under this criteria.

Evidence to support a medical condition can come from the family GP or child's hospital consultant. This should confirm the condition and outline how it it currently managed. It should also confirm how it would affect your child in school and its relevance to a school placement.

The above information is an edited extract from the councils 'Starting School' booklet. You are strongly advised to read the booklet in its entirety.
